There was a predecessor: the temporary pier at the end of Wing Lok Street which was almost completely destroyed by the typhoon on the 10th November. (1900 Public Works Report)

The 1945 map on Gwulo gives the name "Macao Wharf" for this pier.

A Government Notification gives an indication when this pier opened, possibly 1903.
