Irene Stevens met Ernest (Bob) Jones in Stanley Camp where she was interned with her father Henry George Stevens, mother Carmen and siblings George, Sidney and Hilda. Irene and Bob courted in the Camp for more than 2 years until liberation when they were repatriated to England. They subsequently returned about a year later, Irene with her family as her father Henry  (Steve) Stevens continued his service with the Sanitation Service where he served one more tour. Bob Jones returned to HK separately at about the same time to continue his service in the Police Force as a Sub-Inspector. Irene and Bob married in 1948 and had 3 children, Robert (1948), Patricia (1949)and Valerie (1954). Irene and Bob lived in various Police Quarters from Sai Ying Poon to Stanley Police Station and Wanchai Police Station until Bob left the Police and transferred to the Inland Revenue Department in 1960. The Jones Family lived in various Government Quarters from Stewart Terrace on the Peak to Nathan House in Kowloon and Leighton Hill in Happy Valley until Bob's early retirement to England in June 1966. Four years later Irene and Bob emigrated to Melbourne, Australia where they lived until Irene passed away in 1991 and Bob in 1997 just weeks before HK was handed back to China.
