Yesterday I had a chat with a member of one of the Indian families with a long history in Hong Kong. We were talking about how, pre-WW2, the different communities in Hong Kong each had their distinct characteristics and he gave these examples:
School: The schools he remembers that were popular for Indian boys were St. Joseph's, Sir Ellis Kadoorie Primary School, Queen's College, and St. Stephen's College out at Stanley.
Recreation: the Indian Recreation Club.
Sport: No surprise that cricket was the popular sport. Craigengower Cricket Club was considered the club for members of the Indian community.
Work: HK Electric was a popular choice of work.
