Hong Kong Land tried to buy the Hang Chong Building in the 1980's so they could redevelop the block jointly with Standard Chartered but the owners refused to sell and instead later redeveloped it into the present Henley Building. The joint redevelopment of the site with Standard Chartered was abandoned and the oddly shaped Galleria was built on the HK Land owned sites.

I started my practice as a Barrister at 1904 Hang Chong Building in Jackson Lipkin QC's chambers in 1981, then moved to 603 and then 302 of the same building in 1983 and remained there until about 1994 when it was going to be rebuilt.
