Billy served in the HKVDC, then became a Prisoner of War after the surrender. He was shipped to Japan along with many other POWs, and died there in 1945.

HKVDC, died 5 March 1945, aged 47, buried Yokohama War Cemetery Brit. Sec. H.D.11 (POW).  Son of Henry Gittins (1871-1954) & Dorothy Ahlmann (1878-1961).  Husband of Jean Ho Tung (1980-1995), married 19 March 1929. University of Hong Kong B.Sc., electrical engineer, worked for William Jack & Co., Hong Kong.
