Born on 5 May 1901 in Dundee, Scotland. Died 7 September 1963 in Zurich (?).

He had his apprenticeship with the Blue Funnel Line. Came out to the Far East in 1922. Joined the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd.. Gained his Master's Certificate. Shortly before WWII, joined Hong Kong & Kowloon Wharf & Godown Co. Ltd.

James Moodie married Anne Mackenzie Tollan on 23 March 1929 at St. John's Cathedral. He and his wife were interned at Stanley Camp. James Moodie retired in 1958 from  the Hong Kong & Kowloon Wharf & Godown Co. Ltd.
