Notes from Patricia:
a teacher ...??
Hi Sean
this is probably nothing to do with your folk at all, but since it sort of jumped out at me when I was at Kew a couple of weeks ago, I thought that I must get round to mentioning it. I've read your Olson HK history, so when I was browsing through the Blue Books - not looking at the police records this time (where I usually am) - I noticed a Nullin Olson in the 1905 book as Junior Assistant teacher at the Bellios Public School, first appointed 1.11.1905 at a salary of $240. It was the end of the day, and I didn't have time to get any later Blue Books out ... Is this one of your clan?
regards
Patricia
Sean's reply:
John Olson
Hi Patricia,
Nullin Olson is a new one on me and I suspect on the rest of my family as well. That does not mean he/she was not a member of the clan.
We only found out that my great grandfather, John 1 jad bropthers from the Happt Valley records and chased them down a little through Carl Smith and Juror lists.
They were called Olaf and Anders and Olaf certainly spent several year in HK before dying in 1880. David found the grave and the picture appears on my website now. Anders, the other brother, died in 1872 and could only have been in HK a very short time. It is not unlikely that Olof left offspring behind though.
Interestingly the eldest sister on the brothers remained in Sweden and was a teacher in the village school of Trensum just outside Karlshamn, Sweden.
I will see what I can do to check this out with the rest of the family but am sure they have never heard of this person.
Will get back to you if I find anything.
If you come across Olsons in the police files do let me know. I suspect my great uncle Charles W. Olson may have sailed pretty close hauled fro time to time!
Regards,
Sean
Sean again:
John Olson
Patricia,
Have checked with my Swedish contact and he tells me Nullin is not a Swedish name and I can find no mention of it anywhere. Complete blank.
Could you have misread it?
Sean

Nullin Olson
Hi Sean, I checked the 1905 Blue book, and confirm the spelling Patricia gave above. It says she was appointed by "Establishment", ie the school itself.
Nullin Olson doesn't appear in the 1910 Blue Book.
