Gentry with the KCR Taipo Belle railcar at Canton Tai Sha Tou Terminus after trial run

A record-breaking trial run of the KCR Taipo Belle parlour railcar took place on 14 October 1936, carried 17 passengers from Kowloon to Canton in just 2 hours and 15 minutes. It was probably a remarkable event in China, as this photo taken in Canton appeared in a Shanghai pictorial magazine the very next day. It must have been sent by express airmail or facsimile transmission, which was very costly at the time.
