1938 - Pottinger Street - looking down

This 1938 image is labelled: Endless colourful street scenes delight both residents and tourists in Hongkong. The terraced street in the view looks down to where the wharves of Kowloon are seen across the harbour.

I feel quite sure that a Gwulo colleague will be able to identify this street, and let me know whether or not this 1938 image has already been posted on the site. To also know the cross street from which the image has been captured would be most useful, as there is a paired image taken from the same point but with the camera pointed in the opposite direction. 

Thanks to "moddsey"s input (see first comment below), the mystery (to me) street can now be labeled as Pottinger Street.

The photographer is identified as A.H. Buchman. I feel that this is most likely to be Alexander H. Buchman (1911-2003), Chicago-born aeronautical engineer, photographer, socialist and Trotsky admirer. Alex Buchman lived in Shanghai for 6 years between 1933 and 1939, where he became well-known for his still and motion picture photography, which documented, among other things, the Sino-Japanese hostilities of the day. After Shanghai, Buchman journeyed to Coyoacán, Mexico where he became acclaimed for his informal and revealing everyday images of Trotsky at home with his entourage.
