Sha Tau Kok Terminus 沙頭角車站 completed on 1 April 1912

A simulated Sha Tau Kok Railway Terminus near Car Park Street,
Sha Tau Kok, was opened on January 1, 2024

The Sha Tau Kok Railway Terminus 沙頭角火車總站 was originally located on Car Park Street 車坪街 within the Sha Tau Kok Restricted Area.

Now, only shops remain, no longer serving as the station. In recent years, to accommodate the limited opening of the Sha Tau Kok Restricted Area, a simulated station was built on vacant land near Car Park Street, exhibiting a 1:1 scale model of a steam locomotive from that era, becoming a popular tourist attraction.

The real W.G. Bagnall 0-4-4T narrow-gauge steam locomotive is located at the Tai Po Railway Museum.

This shows the Sha Tau Kok Station Park, next to the market building (green roof in the background), so either the terminus marker is incorrectly place and needs to be moved, or - if this is not the location of the old terminus - then perhaps it's better to create a separate place for this image to avoid misunderstanding?

I hope the move from the Railway Museum will not result in vandalism and deterioration of the loco exposed in this open-air location. After all, it was under a canopy within the museum compound to protect it from the sun and inclement weather.  The brass accouterments (fittings) will surely be a magnet for thieves as they are elsewhere in the world on unsecured locomotives on display.

The twin of this locomotive is now located in mid/west Wales at the Vale of Rheidol Railway, Hong Kong narrow-gauge W.G. Bagnall locomotive (Works No. 2228 of 1924, former KCR No. 18BG) 

I recall the Sunday morning when both locomotives arrived at Fo Tan loosely packed in shipping containers from the Philippines.

The locomotive at Sha Tau Kok is a replica, the real one is still preseved in the Railway Museum.

The photograph above is NOT of a locomotive used by KCR on the Fanling - Sha Tau Kok Line . 

The two narrow-gauge locomotives built for the Fanling - Sha Tau Kok line in 1923 were supplied by W.G Bagnall.

 This is builder's photograph of one of these two engines.
