The photo was likely taken from the May Road Bridge over the Peak Tram. Ladies in white dresses are waiting for the downhill tram. Uphill from the station, a man in a white uniform is standing just next to the car. Next to him seems to be a signal mast, and the a small hut. This is likely what Booth wrote in his book: "small signal box in which a man changed the points at the passing place".
