These cannons appear to be capable of causing more harm to the Junk crew than their opponents.
The Harrison Forman picture archive has many more images of similarly armed Junks.
Gwulo mentions similar existing cannons, search for ‘cannons.’
Several were to be found mounted for display in the immediate area of the Castle Peak Kadoorie pier, presumably salvaged from local Junks over the years.
Back in the early 1970s, one of our Sunday hiking group used to relate stories of his postwar night-time smuggling and gun-running exploits in such armed Junks around the Pearl River estuary.
Unfortunately, at the time, I just passed them over as the “tall tales” of an elderly man.
