The 4th Submarine Flotilla's task was to hunt pirates up and down the China coast in the late 1920s. This is a rare photo of captured pirates after their junk had been sunk by HM Submarine L15 off Amoy. It is from the album of William Richmond Fell who commanded HM Submarine L3. I assume the pirates would be delivered to Hong Kong for sentencing. The caption to the photo reads: "Junk's crew sunk by L15. Amoy." L3 may have been accompanying the prisoners together with L15.
