Boundary Stone of the Former Mountain Lodge
Inscribed with "GOVERNOR'S RESIDENCE", this is a boundary stone of the Former Mountain Lodge on the Peak. Mountain Lodge, the former summer residence of the Governors of Hong Kong, was originally a sanatorium and was convened for the Governor's use in 1867. It was severely damaged by typhoons and termites and underwent several renovations and rebuilds. The building was irreparably damaged during the Second World War, so it was demolished in 1946.
The boundary stone was found on Harlech Road on the Peak, and was then relocated to its present position.
