Sedan Chair Bearers and Customer 1869

Source: The Peak, Hong Kong. Photograph, 1981, from a negative by John Thomson, 1868/1871. | Wellcome Collection (slightly enhanced)

The photo shows two sedan chair bearers at the praya. The gentleman on the left is likely their customer. Don't think this is a snapshot but an arranged photo.

On the very left side, there is a building under scaffolding. It is the City Hall (first generation) which opened on 3 November 1869. The photo was likely taken a few months earlier.

Note: the sedan chair bearers alone appear on Gwulo here.
