A loose translation of the text:

That was acknowledging the New Territory District Office (South) that had been sponsoring for the building material.  Uncertain of for the pillar or for the plaza as well.   The project was also assisted by the Cheung Chau Municiple Council.   It was also to acknowledge two benefactors.  A Mr Lui and a Mr Chung., who had sponsored for the project.  The engraving was put up by the committee of Nam Tam Tin Hau Temple on 17th April, 1968.
