The two photos of RAF Ping Shan give a good idea of the large, flat valley and paddy fields, on which it was sited. I can't be sure but I suspect that the building on top of the hill (on our right-hand side of the picture)) was the Ping Shan police station. Apart from the old house, and the building in these two photos, the only other structure on the site was the guardroom: This was of wooden construction and the story was, that it was made out of aircraft packing crates. There was one, single, large gate, opening inwards, by the guardroom and this was the only entrance/exit to the site. At night the site was unmanned with the exception of an RAF Policeman in the guardroom, a Dog Handler patrolling the area and two Radar Operators or Mechanics (these latter two were allowed to slept the night away in the single storey buiding.
