 A rare high-altitude oblique image of the Island in late 1940s

From Central District to the west end of the island.

Scanned from The British Industries Fair Directory dated 1953.

The intrusion into the image, top right is part of the aircraft’s wing structure.

The aerial image was probably taken by this company that was active in 1948

I think this photo was taken a few years earlier - no sign of Bank of China or the Police Married Quarters on Aberdeen Street, both completed in 1951. The old library annex has gone and Electra House (opened Feb 1950) looks almost done so I would date it to mid/late 1949.
