Hi There,

Some prominent landlarks are also shown in the photo:

1. Mau Cheong Eyeware;

2. Ruby Restaurant (included was a bakery, and a Traditional Cantonese Restaurant, which took up the 1st and 2nd floors.  A western restanrant was also there for a long period of time, but I could not recall if it had closed its door in the 1970's already.  They western restaurant had had a branch in the old Man Yee Building though).

Photo also shown Daimaru had already recovered from the gas leak in 1972, which caused severe casualties of over 200 while two of them were fatal.  One of them was a fireman.  I vaguely remember the explosion may have been caused by the walkie-talkie in used by the authorities.  This triggered the replacement of communication equipment across the disciplinary forces.

Hi There,

Their respective Chinese name were simple.   紅寶石酒樓   &   紅寶石餐廳.   The bakery was affiliated to the Western style restaurant though, but there is also a kiosk there selling BBQ items like Char Siu, roasted duck, roasted sausages, and other goodies.
