Another Photo from the Same Location

Just after my previous post, I found another photo that was taken on the same day and shows more of the surrounding area.  I am wondering if this would be along Repulse Bay Road or thereabouts?

This photo shows Cissy (Gonella) Huysman and my mother's sister Phyllis, with Marie (Diniz) Reed, who was married to Arthur Reed, the fourth of the Reed sons.  Marie was visiting Hong Kong from Toronto at that time which would have been in the fall of 1971.

Thanks, IDJ, for identifying the location of the two photos I posted.  I'm glad I came across this second photo with more details of the area.  It's certainly a different view from the more familiar scene of Repulse Bay and Eucliffe!

At first glance the two photographic scenes resemble Repulse Bay. I may be wrong and happy to be corrected, but I believe it to be another location. Firstly there is no way one could park a car directly on the main Repulse Bay Road and pose for a photograph whilst standing in the middle of the road. Well you could, but it wouldn't end well!  (There used to be a lay-by where one could pull in to view the bay located just up the road from 'Eucliffe'). The buildings in the background are none that I recognise from early 1970's Repulse Bay. Also the coach appears to be parked on a grass /earth pull-in. I had the good fortune to live in Royden Court Repulse Bay for six years in total, 1960 to 1963 and again from 1970 to 1973. I wish I could give you a possible location of your photos but perhaps others can better advise you.

Thanks for your feedback, Adrian.  I did wonder why what I thought was a bus remained in the same position in both photos.  The white building behind the ladies looks a bit odd, more like some kind of station rather than a house.

Here's a merge of the two photos in case it can help. The hill-valley-hill-dip skyline looks distinctive. I can also see that the road forks in the background, with coaches parked on both branches of the fork.

Amazing! Thanks for merging the two photos so effectively.  Interesting to see the parked coaches on both sides of the fork now.  I was able to edit the second photo to make it much sharper than the first one.  I am hopeful that this merge will help to pinpoint the location.

Am not really familiar with the houses on or below Repulse Bay Road but would the oddly shaped roof structures on the extreme right be Burnside ?

Thanks, Moddsey, for your feedback. I looked up Burnside Villa/Estate and it was built in 1974.  When I initially uploaded the photos, I had the approximate year as being in the 1970s.   I later confirmed that the photos were actually taken in October 1971 when Marie (Diniz) Reed visited us in Hong Kong from Toronto.   The comments from IDJ and Adrian had conflicting viewpoints regarding the actual location.  In addition, I received personal feedback from three friends who were in favor of the Repulse Bay area.  Moddsey's comment about Burnside made me think that the photos could have been taken on South Bay Road, given the parked coaches and no visible traffic, compared to the busier Repulse Bay Road.
