Wallace Ray was the father of Dorothy Keates (née Ray). He was born Wallace Butler, but changed his name to Ray when he enlisted in the army. He was lucky that his regiment was posted to Hong Kong instead of the Boer War. With his brother, Richard Butler, he established a number of movie theatres in Hong Kong and Shanghai. There's no date on the clipping, but clearly post war and pre PRC takeover of Shanghai.
