I have previously hesitated to upload the 1914-1915 Rate Book pages for the area that would be accessed by Broadwood Road, because they are a bit of a mess with several deletions and insertions. The entries are however useful for tracing the history of several properties and their owners as well as for pinpointing the locations of well known companies at this date. All the properties in I.L. 1947, here listed in Leighton Hill, would subsequently be absorbed into Broadwood Road. On this page we can see the future Broadwood Road owners, the Rev. Webb Anderson, G.W. Gegg and H.W. Walker listed. On the same page we find the Taikoo Sugar Refinery and Dockyard, Quarry Bay; the Ship Building Yard, North Point; the Dairy Farm, Pokfulam; the C.E. Warren factory and workers' residences in Warren Street, Tai Hang, together with a property in Shepherd Street, Tai Hang that had belonged to the company and one that still did in King Street - quite a mixture. This is the first of two Rate Book pages that record Leighton Hill houses whose addresses would change to Broadwood Road in 1916.
