Mention is made here of the Scout Training Camp at Pinewood Battery. In 1929, Barkers or Barker's Bungalow became available as a permanent camp for the training of Hong Kong Scouts. The site was purchased for $16,000 and contained an area of "64,000 sq. metres in the form of a headland at the north shore of today's Chai Wan and beautifully surrounded by sea on three sides against Mount Collinson."
