Although the Lyson Company first advertised in the SCMP on 29 July 1919, their registration does not appear in the Hong Kong Gazette until over a year later on 11 September, 1920. I don't recognize any of the names of the twelve partners as being connected with the Lyson family, but Hong Kong family connections are so labyrinthine that it would need an expert in Hong Kong genealogy to spot that. I speculate that the partners could be business contacts of W. Lyson/Wong Lai-sang who spotted an investment opportunity at a moment when C.E. Warren & Co. might have foundered with the break up of the company partnership, but that is no more than speculation. I am grateful to my cousin, Brian Lewis, for pointing out the emergence of this mystery company and putting a question mark over it for future investigation.
