1931-39 rice fields

This is one for the sleuths!  From a photograph by Mildred Dibden, so I'm guessing sometime in the 30s.  As for location, I'm ruling out HK Island and Kowloon, the other candidates are Shatin Valley, Taipo and Fanling, as that's as far as I've got.  I'm hoping the hills may give a clue, the other item is the flag flying from that building on the right.  There's also what seems like a serrated horizontal white line (teeth upwards) left of middle at the foot of the hills.

Thinking aloud. The background may be the Army Camp at Fanling. The large matshed and flag pole suggests a regimental camp (Volunteers?). The serrated white tops would likely be army tents that have been erected.A similar scene from the 1930s at  https://gwulo.com/media/15558 but this may not be the same location though.

Anyways a start.

Thank you moddsey and phil for those thoughts.  Those tents seem a real possibility.  And Phil, as far as I'm aware Mildred didn't visit China.

My only other thoughts are whether we have a railway embankment running L to R in the picture (Kowloon-Canton?).  And whether that building with flag is a border post?
