All the buildings are gone now except the Man Mo Temple. The Lee Sai Chow Memorial Primary school was the last one to go a few years ago. On the left, sandwiched between two Curios shops was a junkyard full of what look like second hand furniture for sale. It has become a children playground.

Poor Man's Nightclub
I believe the 'junkyard' area, now a park, was previously a 大笪地 (Dai Dat Dei) or"Poor Man's Nightclub". Basically an area where lots of hawkers set up to sell food and wares - a bit like the night markets in Taipei.
There's an old Chinese blog post here (found many years ago by T) that has some description of the area.
Also some screen shots from Les Tribulations d'un Chinois en Chine can be seen here.
location of Poor Man's Nightclub
I am afraid it was not the location of 大笪地 (Dai Dat Dei) or"Poor Man's Nightclub".
The junkyard or later children playground was opposite Man Mo temple near Ladder street. The Poor Man's Nightclub (first generation) was at present day Hollywood Road Park near Possession Street. I think the blog you posted also said the same thing. I posted a picture of it a while ago looking up from Queens road West.

A closer look at the shops around 149 Hollywood road. There was a curios shop named "Kwong Fat". On its left wall, it says "buy and sell furniture and sundries which include used books. Next to it was a junkyard seen in the above picture where they displayed their stuff.
