After the end of the Japanese Occupation, work was swiftly carried out by officers and men of H.M.S. Vengeance in restoring the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. To mark the occasion of the re-opening of the Club on 17 September 1945, a life buoy bearing the H.M.S. Vengeance inscription was hung in the lounge (later the bar).
