Inscription from the grave of Elsie Gaby given in Patricia Lim's data base. The photograph was taken by Christine Thomas. Her record of the register shows that there was no service connected with the burial. No parents are named and it is likely that Elsie, aged 8 when she died, was the natural daughter of Cyril Gaby and his mistress, Ah Lim, aka Anna, although there is no absolute proof of this. Cyril had left Hong Kong in 1934 and it is possible that he was unable to continue financial support for Anna. If there is any alternative evidence about Elsie Gaby's parents, I should of course be interested to know about it.
