This is not Hong Kong. Bought this and other photos on a flea market in Cannes/France in about 1982. It reads in French on the back side
"cleaning ears" and "Peking, 28 oct. 1921".
Possibly this French gentleman did not take the photo himself, it's another commercial genre photo.

Ear Cleaning
Greetings. One barber I knew also did ear cleaning. Time: 1962. Place: Shek Kip Mei Street, lane between Yu Chau and Apliu Street. It was a rare sight while I was visiting my friend the bird shop owner next to him. Regards, Peter
