This photograph was taken from the plot of land where Portal Wing would be built at rigth angle to the main block in about 1956. The shorter wing next to the camera was Cheshire Wing that mainly accommodated Australian personnel and the longer wing 'behind' it was Gibson Wing that accommodated the R.A.F. personnel manning the three Watches, A on the top floor, B on the middle floor and C on the ground floor. Out of sight beyond Gibson Wing was the short Trenchard Wing where most of the non technical personnel were billeted. The wartime Lyon Light building is quite visible on the skyline. (Andrew S)
