I often stood at that gharry stop wondering whether I'd missed the last gharry back to camp. A tram ride to Shaukiwan and then an expensive (for a lowly paid airman) 'pirate' taxi for the rest of the tortuous ride up the Island Road and right round by the Cape Collinson road would not have been welcome. Far better to sit in the back of a 3 ton Bedford Air Force lorry (the gharry) knowing that the driver knew the road like the back of his hand. You have also confirmed for me that that was the location of the Causeway Bay camp.

Causeway Bay Camp
The nissen huts of Causeway Bay Camp can be seen across the road.
