When this photo was taken in 2016, these stood in a small garden by the bus terminus in Kennedy Town, but they used to be further east on the site of the old hospital.
As of 2025 the site is being redeveloped, and the arch and foundation stone have been removed. Ming Pao reports that the arch and stone will be moved closer to the waterfront.
The text on the arch reads:
Tung Wah
Smallpox Hospital
A.D. 1910
The foundation stone says:
This stone was laid
by
Sir Henry Arthur Blake G.C.M.G.
Governor of the colony of
Hong Kong
18th November 1901

Arch and Foundation Stone
At The Helena May history group meeting today, it was reported that the arch and foundation stone shown in the photograph has vanished. And the garden has become a construction site.
Does anybody know what has happened to the arch and stones?

Re: Likely related to the decommissioning of the bus terminus
Hi there,
It is likely related to the decommissioning of the bus terminus next to it. The public morgue is the next, I guess.
Maybe filing an enquiry @1823 may yield something.
