Crowds Gathered To Welcome A Delegate from Canton
On 1st March 1952 a large crowd gathered on Salisbury Road outside the Tsimshatsui Railway Terminal hoping to welcome a delegation from Canton whose stated objective was to give welfare materials to the Tung Tau Tsuen fire victims. The delegation cancelled their mission at Shum Chun and did not cross the border because the HK government did not permit the visit. Upon hearing the cancellation of the delegation most of the crowds left Salisbury Road peacefully. But a group who dispersed into Nathan Road clashed with the Police. The news of this gathering can be found on the local newspaper next day.

Explanation
Hi,
thank you for these interesting details and the explanation why so many people are near the station. I was wondering already about the size of trains to carry so many people. Also amended the date.
Regards, Klaus
