This was taken from Victoria Peak in north-westerly direction. The houses in front are in Sai Wan. The wide building in Sai Wan is Kwan Yick Building Phase 3 at 271-285 Des Voeux Road West, first occupation in 06/1978.

Hi Klaus,
Interesting view. I wondered what that big chimney belching smoke in the background belonged to, and it was an incinerator (http://gwulo.com/node/30761).
One small change - the "Standard Oil Co. / Mobil oil berth and tank farm [1904-????]" had already been replaced by Mei Foo Sun Chuen, the housing estate to the left of the incinerator, when this photo was taken.

thank you for your hints. I originally thought the Mei Foo Sun Chuen houses were oil tanks, but I understand now that they were too big for tanks. I'll amend my entry.
