The squatters on the cliffs with wooden piles foundations were demonished by Squatter Control unit, Land Department of the Government of Hong Kong in the Spring of 1982. Residents were relocated to government subsidized housing buildings on the southern part of Hong Kong island. The rest of the squatters were finally demonished in the Summer of 1995. Remaining occupants were compensated and relocated to four different housing estates in trhe eastern part of Hong Kong island and Kowloon Bay (near then Kai Tak airport). In my last visit to Hong Kong in December 2021, I went for a hike on the former squatters areas (it was called Tai Hang Old village). I took some pictures of the relics.
