This photo was taken at a dinner (I think in about 1950) to celebrate my parents’ wedding anniversary.
Standing, from left to right they are: Charles Wong (cousin, worked on the editorial staff of the SCMP), Louis Xavier (served in the HKVDC and ended up in Sham Shui Po), Charles Arthur Ching (my younger brother who passed away in 2000 shortly after retiring as a Judge of the Court of Final Appeal), myself, John Shim (my father’s half-brother, flew for the CNAC during WWII) and Fred Wong (cousin, ended his working life as Company Secretary of the SCMP Ltd).
Seated at the table, from left to right, are Nora Thomas (mother of Osler), May Woo, Gladys Franklin (mother of Joan Izard), Mavis Xavier (who was my mother’s bridesmaid), Harry Ching and wife Ruby, Bishop Ronald Hall, Dr George Thomas and Dr Arthur Woo.
