Hi Derry, thanks for the photo and the extra information. It's quite a big group, but if you can add any names that'll be a great help.

Were most of the group here on their National Service?

Regards, David

Good morning David, yes I have a complete list of the names of all the staff shown in this photo.I spent some time going through my 'archives' and found this list which gives me all the information you request. I will try to send it to you but I have to admit that I'm not very conversant with computer usage and was only able to send the photo with the help of my son. The first thing you will notice is that I got the date wrong, I was going from memory and well it's almost 60 years since it was taken so I should be forgiven. I was given the photo by Glen Davies, who has now passed on. I think most of the 'bods' were National Service as I was. As you can imagine as an RAF policeman I was not included in the fellowship of the personnel and the fact that there was no billets and the unit was only manned during the day meant that there was really no leisure activity. The guardroom was at the entrance to the site and all the technical activity took place further up the site so at the guardroom we only saw the airmen arrive and leave in the coach.

Now if the list of names is not attached you can asume I have been unable to scan and enclose it and that my son has not been available but if you would like to send your postal address I'd be happy to send a hard copy. I am new to this site so I'm not conversant with it's operation so here is my direct email if you want to contact me. derrymartin811@hotmail.com

Thanks Derry, I'll drop you a line now to see about getting that list of names.

Please do you know when this site was closed? I'd previously guessed 1972, but I think that's wrong and it was more likely to have closed in the late 1950s.

Regards, David
