This is my squad for which I was responsible. Each morning I would parade them, inspect them, check the missing to see if sick or gone AWAOL and drill them aroung the square whilst I stood at a distance away. This is where eyesight, co-ordination and a loud voice came in. The drill sequence had to be exact as it was the drill pattern to be followed at the passing out parade in front of the public. AGAIN well attended by the local people from Wong Chuk Hang who use to bet on who was going to cock up his drill. Had a near miss when I inspected the backs and heels of the squad and they were brought to shoulder arms with the .303s and I had 2 bayonets whiz over my head.
