The lampost reminds me of the Hedda Morrison photo looking up Pottinger Street. Then the road across the foreground of the stereoview would be Stanley Street, and the road with the lampost would be Wellington Street.
I don't think my photo is Pottinger St. The photo was taken in 1896. Please see below photo for your reference, which should be Pottinger St. around 1900.

It is very likely Aberdeen Street. At least the steps looks very much alike despite all those years.

As T says it looks like Aberdeen St. I was interested in the sign on the pillar facing QRC . Perhaps a rickshaw 'stand'.

There's a marked-up copy of the Morrison photo about halfway down this page, and the original is on the VIA website.
I can't make a 100% match from comparing those two photos though, so it may well still be Aberdeen Street.

Hmm... the steps in the photo did not have the "sidewalk" by the right as Pottinger did. If only we have more photos for comparison.
