Most interesting photo showing Peking Road from Canton Road to Nathan Road (Chungking Arcade slightly visible in the distance).
Right hand side is TST Market, then Chinese Houses, and Ho Tung Mansions further along the road.

Re: Ho Tung Mansions
Nice photo. Ho Tung Mansions is actually not very clear to see but should be on the right. Cheers.

Hi moddsey, thank you for the clarification. But what is the white building, should be at the junction with Ashley Road? Regards, Klaus

On 1956 hkmaps, the white building was warehouse/godown No. 36. Likely connected with Kowloon Wharf.
1950's Photo - Artificially Colourized?
Am I the only one who suspects this Flickr photo dating from the early 1950's may have been artificially colourized? Colour photography was very uncommon in that era and the sale of 35mm colour slides to tourists was also not yet in vogue. I also think there are too many yellow shops signs to be expected on a single street ???????
I can see several other…
I can see several other colour views of this street from the 1950s at https://gwulo.com/node/44133/photos
Hi There,Info from Flickr…
Hi There,
Info from Flickr showing the software used while digitizing the photo or slide:
A further digging concerning VueScan software and it would seem it can colorize monochrome photos. Insufficient information based on these if the original photo were black and white or colour slide though. Colour photography is available in the 1950s.......
T
ps A question to IDJ. You had been a frequent colour slide user back then. Does this photo look like a colour slide please?
Colour slide
The photo was posted on Flickr in 2020. Although I have no proof, I don't think that a good software was available then and that it is a colour photo, indeed. In the series on Flickr are several colour photos; I think these are colour slides which were digitized.
Re: m20wc51 slides
To me, it just looks like normal 1950s colour slides. The author's collection can be viewed at:https://www.flickr.com/photos/58451159@N00/albums/

This is Doug Price's user name on FLICKR, he has been posting old (coloured) photos of HK for many years, he is also an old member of Gwulo. I believe he is a retired US Navy seaman. I highly doubt any AI colourisation was used but perhaps he will see this thread and be able to comment.
