When compared with Photo 1 and Photo 2 from 1935, I think the main photo was taken a few years earlier. On the left one can see "Ltd" in the signage above the store facing Queen's Road Central. The signage appears to belong to the Yee Sang Fat Co. Ltd..

The full name of the store can be viewed here but on the side facing Wyndham Street.

Yes, a popular junction for taking photographs. The photographs recently posted show that Kooters had taken them at least on two separate occasions and a couple of years apart. I guess he was traveling through the Orient?

His bio at the University Library of Bergen mentions that "Jacob Blaauw Kooter (1903-1949) took photographs from the age of 10-12 and later became a journalist, photographer and businessman. He spent most of his adult life in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Canton (Guangzhou) in China, where he worked from the late 1920s. He returned to his hometown of Bergen in 1946 after several years as a Japanese prisoner of war in Hong Kong and Shanghai."

His sister Liv Kooter Lauhn was also a journalist and her photo collection is open to the public at the same  library. A few photos, like this one, were probably taken when she visited her brother in 1938 but they do not have details of location and date.
