August 26 1942 - Upon Arrival on the Gripsholm
Walter F. Arndt told reporters that he had been imprisoned for 16 days in a filthy Chinese brothel at Hong Kong. He said the first night had been spent in a room with four others, two of whom slept in the only bed while three slept under it. He said they were given no food or water for two days. Later Mr. Arndt said he was transferred to an internment camp which overlooked the "military prison". During his stay there he had lost 18 lbs.
