The trees in Murray Parade Ground were to be removed for the construction of a slip road between Garden Road and Queen's Road Central. Attempts were made to save the trees but the costs were too prohibitive. See China Mail 14 June 1960 here
As seen on Google Street View, I think a token tree that stands next to Cheung Kong Centre (formerly the Hilton Hotel) was saved during the removal exercise.

Because the Hilton Hotel isn't there, it isn't 1966,
with the last 2 buildings of Estoril Court under construction, I believe it's 1960.
