I found this photo on the website of the National Galleries of Scotland. It is in the John Thomson collection who lived in Hong Kong from 1868-72. The title is: West Position of Hong Kong.
John Thomson left Hong Kong in 1872 and the presence of the 1,000 foot pier in Wanchai bay (constructed c1873) means the photo was taken after he left. The Getty attribute the album from where the photo came to Lai Afong among others. I think the National Galleries of Scotland have misattributed their copy to John Thomson
