George Gosling was born in Aby Lincolnshire on 19/11/1880. He arrived in China in 1906 and worked for the Chinese Maritime Customs Service. When he retired in 1936, he was the Ningpo Tide Surveyor and Harbour Master. He then moved to Hong Kong with his wife Jane Frances Chen (who died in 1938). During WW2, George was interned in Stanley Camp with his son-in-law Francis Storry Elliott. George died on 29/1/1950 and is buried with Jane at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
