As far as I can find, Atkinson survived the camp, and you are correct his DOB doesn't match.
Interestingly, before being sent to Stanley, my great uncle, Mr A G Dann was held in room 305 of the Stag Hotel, which was next door to Mr Atkinson. I wonder if they met then, or whether they were friends before that.
