Mention is made in the 1913 Public Works Report of the completion of No. 20 Des Voeux Road Central, the new premises of Messrs Whiteaway, Laidlaw & Co., Ltd.
"To Let" advertisements were placed in the local newspapers from 21 December 1912 onwards notifying the availability of office space in the new building. Architects were Messrs Palmer & Turner.
As seen at the top of the page, the place location for 20 Des Voeux Road Central was created some time ago. However, I did note both locations and thus included the "To Let" advertisements in the address as well as the department store. I will leave it to Admin to edit this page, if necessary.

Re: 20 Des Voeux Road Central
We already have a place Whiteaway & Laidlaw Department Store [1913-c.1957]. Is that different from 20 Des Voeux Road Central?
I also think that the predecessor was P & O Building (3rd generation) [1887-????]

Re: 20 Des Ves Voeux Road Central
Just had the idea that the place 20 Des Voeux Road Central is referring to the predecessor of the Whiteaway&Laidlaw building as shown here:
It is referred to as "3 storey building with a flagpole-housed a German trading firm Stoltecroft & Hirst"
