The Home of Loving Faithfulness was started by Valerie Conibear and Wendy Blackmur in 1965.  Valerie came to Hong Kong from England in 1960 and Wendy in 1962 to assist Mildred Dibden in the Shatin Babies' (later Children's Home).  With the prospect of this work finishing and Mildred retiring to the UK, Wendy and Valerie started their work for special needs children with severe difficulties in Hong Kong.  In the absence of any provision in Hong Kong at that time for the children in their care, they both returned to the UK for personal training, before returning to HK and setting up their Home of Loving Faithfulness in 1965.  Starting in a bungalow in Fanling, after 6 years they moved to  what became 7 Castle Peak Road, Kwu Tung.  It is a faith-based work. The book Secret Riches by Linda Ball tells its heart-warming and inspirational story.  The website is here  .

These two videos from 2018 on You Tube tell more about the work of 'HOLF'.

Hi @dibden

This marker needs to be moved to Kwu Tung near Sheung Shui. The building is on the corner of Castle Peak Road and Ho Sheung Heung Road. I used to pass it every week on the way to the riding stables.

Phil

Thanks Phil, I think I'm going to need co-ordinates.  Can't seem to find it.

As their instructor in 1974-1976, I took a squad of recruit RHKP inspectors to the home during their preliminary training.

While the girls assisted the dedicated nursing staff looking after the severely compromised infants and young children in their care, I led the men attacking the jungle which had taken over the grounds.

In the process we disturbed a hornets' nest and most of us were stung. But the end result was positive and we all returned to base sore, weary but happy that we had be of some small service to a wonderful home.
