If you zoom in, locate St. John's and then fix your location and start from there, then zoom out. Also use the white ship as a marker. I suspect the photographer was somewhere in present day Wanchai. Maybe the sea front in the foreground was present day Johnston Road?
Looking at Wanchai below the trees and west towards Central from Morrison Hill. I think the road below in between the houses on the right in the main photo is Wanchai Road. A similar view.
