The 3rd generation of 2 Park Road (in red) already appeared in the aerial photo on the right in 1963 (Source: Lands Dept.), but not in the photo on the left.

The left photo was taken between 1962-64 (if dated independently from the aerial photo on the right). In it, there were Breezy Court in green (2A Park Road, 1960 first occupancy), YWCA Hostel in yellow (38C Bonham Road, completed in 1962), and Breezy Mansion in purple (38 DEF Bonham Road, completed in 1962), and the 4th generation No.8 Police Station (High Street) in blue. The modern Hing Ying Mansion (40-42 Bonham Road), first occupancy in 1964, had not been built yet in both photos.

Thanks for the sharing  - any chance to share the photo of 3rd generation of 2 Park Road ?

I am now living in the 4th generation of 2 Park Road, and keen to know how did the 3rd generation look like.

Appreciate for the sharing. Thanks!!

Dear uniunipoon,

I’m afraid that dedicated photos of the 3rd gen are not easy (for me) to find in the public domain. Yet, given the prestigious location and view, it often appears in panoramas of Sai Ying Pun viewed from the harbour. A few examples are:

1. Gwulo.com (well of course)

e.g. https://gwulo.com/atom/38940.    https://gwulo.com/atom/19454

2. In case you want to skip the building-hunting, the 3rd gen is at the top left corner in https://gwulo.com/atom/15673 . It was the one with two red painted columns, on the left of the two gov quarters on Park Road which still exist today.

3. Its western facades can be seen in aerial photo on Lands Dept website (in the middle-right of the photo):

https://www.hkmapservice.gov.hk/OneStopSystem/map-search/getPreviewFile…

4. It also appears on p.81 of A Sense of Place (街角人情, 三聯, 2010). Great details of its north facade can be seen behind the house at No. 38A Bonham Road (though in the 2010 edition, the photo was labelled as “12-14 Bonham Road”).

5. In one of the replies of this FB post: https://www.facebook.com/groups/188384079770504/posts/379408660668044

Hopefully this thread would be updated when more details are found.

Hi TN Kwok,

Thanks a lot ! I bought "A Sense of Place (街角人情, 三聯, 2010)" and checked out p.81, which should be the best view of 3rd generation of No. 2 Park Road for now.. :)

I am still keen to look for more recent photo showing the 3rd generation of 2 Park Road ..ideally taken in late 90's ..

Actually I was studying in HKU in late 90's and I am sure I passed by Park Road by bus at that time ...I am able to recall the building of Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital (雅麗氏何妙齡那打素醫院 ) on Breezy Path, however I am not able to recall No.2 Park Road building at that time from my memory...which was on the junction of the same road.

I tried to look for St. Stephen's Girls' College and Breezy Court photos back in 20 or 30 years ago, hopefully can see a more completed view of the 3rd gen of 2 Park Road next to them from the picture, however I still have no luck.

I hope this thread woudl be updated when more details found as you mentioned. :)
